Beth wasn’t surprised when she caught herself not being able to sleep and staring right at the ceiling. This had been happening a lot to her lately. Apparently, she had too much in her mind, and she just didn’t know how to turn her thoughts off even if she wanted to get some sleep. She tried changing positions, counting, and even praying, but nothing seemed to work. Something did surprise her, though, some crazy idea came to her mind. Maybe since her twin sister was now at the same boarding school, she could pay her a visit and she would feel better and finally get some sleep. Beth didn’t think too much about the idea because she knew that she would end up regretting it and staying in her room. Instead, she grabbed her pillow and walked straight over to her room’s door, stepping outside.
Minnow’s room wasn’t far away from her own, so she didn’t take long to get there. Before knocking, Beth glanced around to check if the hall was empty. For some reason, she didn’t want people knowing that she was going to her twin sister in order to be able to sleep. Beth remembered how close she used to be with Minnow, and how much fun that was, but she also remembered how they had grown apart. It wasn’t because they didn’t get along anymore, or because they were too different -like everybody else thought they were- the reason was that they wanted different things. Beth wanted popularity and, according to her, Minnow wouldn’t help her get it. Beth knocked softly on Minnow’s door, waiting for her sister to open the door. She wanted her to open as soon as possible, before someone decided to appear in the hallway.
